Hope Point Professional Review and Guide
"Spectacular, though very steep for a while, the route to Hope Point offers impressive views of Turnagain Arm from a different angle than is usually available. The vista north across Turnagain Arm puts into perspective familiar Chugach Mountains southeast of Anchorage. Check the Chugach State Park map to help locate favorite spots. At Porcupine Creek, just beyond the campground entrance, a marked but minimally maintained foot trail follows the right-hand side of the stream. Although portions of the trail are very steep, the hike begins as a lovely creek-side walk beside water tumbling gently over mossy rocks. This meandering trail under a forest canopy lasts about a third of a mile. The trail then climbs a slope to the right and continues steeply upward through forest. Soon the trees thin, and hikers enter an inclined meadow parkland studded with evergreens."
