This is a must-do in Denali National Park, and if your time is limited make sure you make it to Savage River. The loop hike is a well maintained, almost flat trail that hugs the Savage River and has some really lovely views of the hillsides and valleys in every direction. There are amazing views of the parks vistas and wildlife. We saw sweet little Arctic ground squirrels, Dall sheep, caribou, snowshoe hares, moose, eagles and other wildlife along the trail. Lots of flowers and leaves are beginning to bust out everywhere. You can drive to the parking lot (which is as far as cars are allowed to drive to in the park) or take the free, convenient Savage River shuttle, which takes you there, drops you off, and is available every hour. This is an easy hike, suitable for all levels. We did the entire loop with tons of dilly-dallying, photo ops, a snack break at the bridge, and several stops to watch marmots and arctic squirrels in less than 2 hours. The views are astonishingly beautiful!
