Snow Hawk Valley and Temptation Peak Professional Review and Guide
"Though surrounded on three sides by Chugach State Park, Snow Hawk Valley actually belongs to the United States Army. It’s a wilderness area, with an excellent hiking trail leading through the underbrush and into the upper valley. Call the military police to confirm access and make sure no military maneuvers are being performed in the area. Be respectful of any U.S. military personnel you may encounter and be aware that you are hiking at your own risk. Uncle Sam has built two small cabins in Snow Hawk Valley, one tucked among birches and a second high on the open valley floor. There’s a lot to see in this expansive valley, but the best destinations are the upper Snow Hawk Cabin (a squat little shelter seemingly dropped at random in the middle of the tundra) and Temptation Peak with its stunning tarn."
