This custom-designed loop of 2.4 miles of singletrack (plus a half mile of asphalt greenway), gives the Hickory off-road rider an ideal place to take a quick lap or two during a lunch break or after work. The route originally was set aside for hikers, but when the greenway opened, the off-road biking area was assigned to First Flight Bicycles for maintenance. The scenery is pretty, like most North Carolina hill country, but not spectacular because of a section along a power line.

I just started this year trail riding. I found the trail challenging, but not from a physical standpoint. The trail is quite overgrown. The trail itself is very tight and the shoulders are incredible soft. Several small tree stumps were poking up from the ground. Falling on them would leave more than a bruise. The scenery is nice, but there are very few trail markings. In fact, I ended up going from this trail to the Hilton trail without noticing. I plan to try it again when I return later this year. But all-in-all, I prefer the more popular trails in GA (e.g. Blankets Creek) to this group of paths.

Great trail, still tight and twisty, but recently re-vamped... the total mileage has grown to much more than 2.4 miles, and if one rides each of the loops, can easily hit 8+ miles... It is a maze, but you're never too far from the greenway path, the main road or the river... ENJOY!
