This trail, built by volunteers, is a memorial to fourteen firefighters who lost their lives on Storm King Mountain in July 1994. Interpretive signs explain wildland firefighting and this unfortunate disaster. You can stop at the observation point to look across to the ridge where the firefighters died, or hike farther to the memorial sites. The trail is a journey into a burned land, now recovering. The steep trails give you a brief insight into and feeling for the work of those who fight wildland fires.
