Catwalks and view platforms permit a unique variety of vantage points for enjoying this remarkable canyon and its waterfalls. The Lower Falls can be reached in 1.2 km. A narrow cave permits a close-up view of these falls as well as a taste of its spray. The more dramatic Upper Falls are reached at km 2.7. You pass five other minor falls en route. Tufa—colourful rock deposits from dripping springs—can be seen, especially at the Upper Falls. Johnston Canyon is one of only three sites in Alberta where nesting sites of black swifts have been found. Dippers also frequent the fast-moving water and its spray. currently offers topo maps from the entire United States. We plan to expand our topomap database in the future, however this map is not available at this time. Thank you for your understanding.
