This short nature trail takes you through a stand of aspens, past a group of ancient Douglas firs with their corrugated bark, to a pleasant viewpoint. The grade is easy-to-moderate as far as the hiking sign and rest bench where the man-made trail ends. From there, an animal path continues upslope, leading very steeply to scenic slopes 200 m above the trailhead. A less obvious animal route continues up the crest of a minor ridge, with many scenic vantage points. As you go higher, however, the tree cover increases and openings with views become infrequent. There is no water on the way; if you are tempted to follow the animal path, you will want to carry a supply. If you go before July, watch for parasitic ticks. currently offers topo maps from the entire United States. We plan to expand our topomap database in the future, however this map is not available at this time. Thank you for your understanding.
