An easy ascent with a moderate ascent on excellent trail. There are two ways to reach the southern terminus of the Great Divide Trail. Either follow the Lakeshore trail from Waterton townsite 6.3 km to the international boundary or take a boat to the Goat Haunt Ranger Station in Glacier National Park at the southern tip of Upper Waterton Lake. After disembarking, follow the Lakeshore trail north 6.5 km to the international boundary. The remainder of this segment follows the Carthew-Alderson trail. It is a fabulous beginning for the GDT. currently offers topo maps from the entire United States. We plan to expand our topomap database in the future, however this map is not available at this time. Thank you for your understanding.
