There is a considerable amount of driving involved to reach this location, but it is worth it. The Cameron Ridge trail is a delight. In addition, those who promote the trail have a commendable ulterior motive -- to draw attention to the spectacular, wildlife-rich watershed of the Penfold valley, whose ancient cedar and spruce forest were, at the time of writing at any rate, threatened by logging road construction. We hiked Cameron Ridge in mid-August following a spring that saw a heavier than usual snowpack. This may have delayed the flowers somewhat, luckily for us. Hiking up the mining road, we were given a taste of what was to greet us in the meadows higher up: Indian paintbrush in that deep red shade found at higher elevations, purple aster, heliotrope, brilliant fireweed and sunny arnica. currently offers topo maps from the entire United States. We plan to expand our topomap database in the future, however this map is not available at this time. Thank you for your understanding.
