While the primary purpose of a demonstration forest is, of course, education, if you can combine this with an attractive walk, then it's not a bad way to spend a few hours in the outdoors. With the exception of the final stretch, which is on a wide dirt road, this particular walk is quite pleasing, and always informative. There are some historical bonuses, too. At the start of the route is a section of the old Cariboo Wagon Road and a sign explaining the history of that colourful artery. Also, at a couple of points along the way there are detours to view collections of old forestry equipment and machinery. Another interesting section with historical overtones is at Margaret Springs, on a particularly attractive stretch of the trail.
