The two waterfalls located between Canim and Mahood lakes are worth visiting even though there is very little hiking involved. A 1 km walk brings you to the rim of the Canim River gorge, the walls of which have the same reddish lava-layered composition as Painted Chasm north of Clinton and Helmecken Falls. From here the trail heads left up the canyon where you can view 15 m-high Mahood Falls on one of two streams draining from Canim Lake. A little farther along, the more spectacular Canim Falls- actually two falls split by a mid-stream island- tumbles 20 m to the river. The base of the falls is accessible by a steep forest trail on the right. currently offers topo maps from the entire United States. We plan to expand our topomap database in the future, however this map is not available at this time. Thank you for your understanding.
