This is not as attractive as the western approach to Lime Ridge. The first 3 km is along an old mining road and from there it is necessary to do a bit of a scramble on a barely definable trail through scrub forest, around bluffs and across scree slopes to the ridge. Once up there, however, you can walk east or west along the ridge for some way. Before crossing under the powerlines you will encounter a service road running west to east across your trail—stay to the left until the next intersecting road branching under the powerlines, at which point go right, heading directly toward the mountains. At one point along the way you should encounter indications of former limestone mining activity. A few hundred metres from its end, the mining road, which had been heading east, takes a curve uphill westward and comes to an end against a rocky outcrop. A narrow path curves around the rock and begins to climb in a north-easterly direction through the forest. When the trail becomes indistinct, which it does, continue heading uphill in a northeasterly direction toward the base of the bluffs. currently offers topo maps from the entire United States.
