Before there was Moose Mountain Road the pack train servicing Moose Mountain Lookout from Elbow Ranger Station went up Ranger Creek, then switchbacked up an easterly spur to the main southeast ridge that has become today's normal route up the mountain. All this was built in 1928. Too bad the spur was omitted from the official K Country trail system. Today, the spur route is most easily accessed via an exploration road to a well site. Biking the road section brings Moose Mountain within range of a one day push. Of course, some bikers with quads like Curt Harnett can pedal all the way to the ridge and most of the way to the summit. Be here in June during Mountain Bike City's annual bike race and prepare to be amazed!
