We're talking here about a compact group of grassy ridges of which Windy Peak is the highest summit, lying in the angle between Johnson Creek Trail at The Hump and Forestry Trunk Road. Their greenness and gentle slopes are in keeping with the old name for the northern half of the Livingstone Range: the Comagh Mountains as shown on Arrowsmith's map of 1862. Owing to some configuration of the mountains to the west, the Windy Peak Hills are incredibly windy. Lenticular clouds are a familiar formation above the ridge tops; south- and west-facing slopes are bare, dotted with sprawling mats of krummholz.
