Fording River Pass, renowned for the magnificence of its cirques, is currently the northern boundary of the Great Divide Trail. The initial problem is getting around the south slopes of Mt. Armstrong. Although there is a perfectly good exploration road along the north bank of Baril Creek, the GDT that twines about it is a lot more enjoyable and, a huge plus in my books, it adroitly avoids the road's grade 7 hill. But please yourself. Most people walk into the area via Baril Creek (#221) and spend several days doing side trips.
