Three Isle Lake is the most popular destination of all the trails radiating out from Upper Kananaskis Lake. Although you can hike there and back in one long day, it is far, far better to backpack in for a long weekend and spend time looking around some fantastic high country. Despite `improvements', the headwall still exacts its pound of sweat. Consider biking the fire road section to Invincible Creek. The trail stays within earshot of the noisy river, at one point crossing the bottom of a talus slope with a view of Mt. Putnik, and a more distant one of the headwall below Three Isle Lake with Mt. Worthington peeping over the top. On your left you pass a bewildering array of cliffs and towering peaks that are all part and parcel of Mt. Lyautey. A wonderfully clear spring bridged by the trail is the best place to fill up the water bottles. currently offers topo maps from the entire United States.
