Although the moderately strenuous Buller Pass trail is perceived as being a backpacker's trail to Ribbon Lake, there's no reason why fit hikers can't make the pass and back in a day. The original north pass route was superseded by the south pass trail in 1981, but is still available as an alternative or for making a high-level loop. Snow (cornice on north pass) persists on the east side of the passes well into July.

Trails.com currently offers topo maps from the entire United States. We plan to expand our topomap database in the future, however this map is not available at this time. Thank you for your understanding.
