These loops are easy but hilly forest circuits following four wide-wide ski trails. Start from the four-way intersection west of the parking lot. Turn left onto Terrace trail and walk past Rim trail and the road to the reservoir. At the next junction keep right on the four metre-wide ski trail that’s named Kovach, and wind uphill to a junction with Aspen in a damp meadow. Anyone resting at the picnic table will need to slather themselves in Muskol. At this junction and the look-alike junction following stay to the left, always climbing uphill. Look back for a fine view of The Wedge before rounding the bend and disappearing into spruce forest indicating the upper limit of the 1936 fire. This is the loop’s high point. On your way down a logging road built to salvage timber after the fire, a fresh landscape appears to the west: Ribbon Peak, Mt. Sparrowhawk and Mt. Allan showing the Centennial Ridge in profile. A picnic table marks the start of two long downhill zigs to the T-junction with Link trail. Should you go left here you’d join up with Ribbon Creek trail.
