The most important thing to know about the South Ghost River itself is that there is no river. The country is like a sieve, the water generally surfacing in only three spots: a stretch of about 500 m in the meadows below Stenton Lake, which reappears 2.5 km lower down in the vicinity of the hunter's camp, and a long 2 km stretch west of the confluence with the Ghost. In between the confluence and the hunter's camp is 17 km of virtual desert, so don't plan on camping anywhere soon. McConnell was right on when he wrote in his famous report of 1886, "In the latter part of summer, the circuit of the group might be made without crossing a single running stream". Actually, you wonder how can such a small stream cut such a large valley 1000-1200 meters in depth and almost 2 kilometers wide in places. currently offers topo maps from the entire United States. We plan to expand our topomap database in the future, however this map is not available at this time. Thank you for your understanding.
