Leading up Whitegoat Creek to its headwaters just below Littlehorn Pass, this hike proceeds to loop around Littlehorn peak before you return the way you came. If you are very strong and very, very fast this hike can be done in two long days. The scenery is so special, though, that we feel it would be an injustice to recommend this. Do take at least three days to revel in the beauty of the Littlehorn meadows. Although not remarkably steep, the trail climbs 26.6 trailhead steadily through open pine forest and there are few views until the 2.6-km mark. Continue along the road past a junction with a trail on the left that leads to Whitegoat Falls. The road braids three times around boggy areas. Choose the main road since the braids tend to be wetter and more difficult to walk on. Shortly beyond the point where you first hear the rapids on Whitegoat Creek, descend sharply to this pretty, gurgling stream. This is the first of several stream crossings en route to the Littlehorn meadows. Vistas now come into view with Mount Stelfox keeping you company on the left. currently offers topo maps from the entire United States. We plan to expand our topomap database in the future, however this map is not available at this time. Thank you for your understanding.
