The Cardinal Divide is a windswept alpine tundra overlooking the McLeod River to the north and the Cardinal River to the south. This divide marks the watershed between the Athabasca River drainage flowing to the Arctic Ocean via the Mackenzie River and the North Saskatchewan River drainage flowing to Hudson Bay.
