The Kicking Horse fireroad is a short, easy doubletrack that parallels the Kicking Horse River downstream for some distance. Although a rough singletrack continues through to Porcupine Creek, it is overgrown and not suitable for cycling. If you desire a longer trip a better option is to explore the Otterhead fireroad. The best way to gain elevation in this valley is to take the old road to Tocher Ridge Lookout. This trail branches to the right at km 6.4 and climbs steeply through Engelmann spruce and subalpine fir forest to alpine meadows on the rocky crest of Tocher Ridge. This trip is best done as a hike unless you are comfortable riding down long, steep hills. currently offers topo maps from the entire United States. We plan to expand our topomap database in the future, however this map is not available at this time. Thank you for your understanding.
