The ride to Livingstone Lookout will test your stamina and hill-climbing abilities on the way up and reward you with a great downhill run on the return. The summit ridge and peak offer views of Tornado Mountain and Gould Dome to the west and Whaleback Ridge and the foothills to the east. The trail begins as a good gravel road. After 0.5 km keep right and cycle the rutted doubletrack to the Livingstone River ford, which is usually easy by midsummer. Continue south for 2 km to a large grassy meadow and watch for the obvious road to the east that disappears into the trees. Where the main track veers left, follow the grassy track ahead. The uphill is hard work and some pushing is required, especially where the rocky road climbs up a canyon toward the crest of the Livingstone Range. The road improves to a fine shale surface as it climbs through spruce and fir forest to the lookout. currently offers topo maps from the entire United States. We plan to expand our topomap database in the future, however this map is not available at this time. Thank you for your understanding.
