A highway to nowhere-this trail is the perfect place to spend a couple of hours rolling in the woods. And what more could you ask for than the sound of rushing water and the breeze in your hair; just you and your bike cruising on a good trail. The route is well constructed to high standards with a compacted gravel and silt tread, much of which is covered with spruce and pine needles. It is well drained and provides acceptable cycling in wet weather as long as you don’t mind a little silty spray. Not far from the trailhead a short side trail leads to Mud Lake. Meanwhile, the main trail climbs gently for 2 km, then parallels the Pipestone River. The official cycle route and good tread end at km 6.7. Beyond, the trail is rooty and muddy and, don’t ask me why, closed to bikes.
