Located in the lovely coastal foothills north of Santa Rosa, this gem is known for sizzling bass fly fishing. There’s plenty of structure and cover such as timber stick-ups and submerged vegetation—classic bass habitat where the fish breed and feed. This is all by design. Lake Sonoma, behind Warm Springs Dam, finished filling a two-creek drainage in 1985. Much of the brush and vegetation was left, creating an excellent warm-water environment for fish and fly fishers. Types of Fish: Smallmouth and largemouth bass, landlocked steelhead, and panfish. This fly-fishing chapter describes the "where, when, and how" for fishing in this area. It includes a full-page map and information on the known hatches, suggested equipment to use, the best flies to use, season, limits, nearby accommodations, and camping.
