The area around this company-owned phosphate mining town offers fly fishing on sandy beaches, rocky shores and rock reefs. If staying in or around La Paz, a 35 mile (56 km) junket northwest leads to a great place to spend a day with a fly rod. The directions below are from La Paz and start you on your way fly fishing. Types of Fish: Shore: Rock areas - cabrilla, pargo, triggerfish, pompano, croaker. Sandy areas - jacks, roosterfish, pompano, ladyfish, needlefish, sierra, pargo, corvina. Inshore: Rooster, bonito, sierra, jacks, barracuda, triggerfish, needlefish. Offshore: Marlin, sailfish, tuna, wahoo, dorado outside the islands.
