Stories of huge tuna and amberjacks caught inside Bahía Los Frailes have drawn conventional anglers here from around the world. This unique bay, a favorite anchorage of yachters cruising the Sea of Cortez, drops off to a 1,000' depth. Along this drop-off are dorado, wahoo, bonita, sierra and other species. The bigger marlin and tuna live a few miles off shore. Types of Fish: Shore: Over rocks - cabrilla, pargo, triggerfish, pompano and croaker. Sandy areas - jacks, rooster, pompano, ladyfish, giant needlefish, sierra, cornet fish. Inshore: Dorado, wahoo, rooster, bonita, skipjack, sierra, jacks, pompano, triggerfish, needlefish along the drop-off. Offshore: Marlin, sailfish, tuna, wahoo, dorado.
