For southern Arizona bass, bluegill, and crappie fishing, these small lakes not far from Tucson are ideal for fly rodders. Patagonia Lake is 265 acres in size and makes a great little fishing escape. It tends to be crowded in the summer. Arivaca Lake is small and its water level fluctuates a lot, but it has a reputation for better than average fishing. It has red-ear sunfish up to two pounds. Try that on your 4 weight! Types of Fish: Largemouth bass, bluegill, sunfish, crappie, and trout (in the winter). This eTrail covers the "where, when, and how" to fish in this region. You'll get a full-page map and information on the known hatches, suggested equipment to bring, and the best flies to use.
