Rescued from the commercial and industrial concerns that dominate the north arm of the Fraser, this unexpected gem of a park provides a needed breathing space in this busy part of the city. There is a wide grassy area for games and picnicking, seats along the riverbank for watching tugs, barges and log booms, and an outstanding parks display describing the formation of the delta, an account of the Musqueam people who inhabited it, the days of the early settlers, and the growth of the fishing and logging industries at the mouth of the river. The natural history of this remnant of floodplain forest is explained at specific sites throughout the park. A boardwalk affords a unique opportunity to view the estuarine marsh at low or high tide, and to learn something of wetland ecology from both the information panels and on-the-spot observation. Highlights: River and estuarine marsh; river traffic; cattails, snowberries, blackberries; cormorants, red-winged blackbirds; muskrats. Terrain: Flat. Path, boardwalk and gravel track, some areas suitable for wheelchairs. currently offers topo maps from the entire United States. We plan to expand our topomap database in the future, however this map is not available at this time. Thank you for your understanding.
