Québec is Canada’s largest province in terms of territory. It is so big that several European countries could be placed within Québec and still have room left over for more. It would be impossible to visit most of Québec during one trip. This is good because you will want to return again and again to see what you have missed. Many visitors to the province spend most of their time in Montréal and Québec City. This is a shame because they could easily add a whole new dimension to a trip by traveling out into the nearby countryside. There are other fascinating vacation regions that can be experienced within one visit. Just a short drive to the north of Montréal is the Laurentian mountain resort region, a four-season area where you can hike, swim, ride a horse, kayak, or canoe during the summer, and ski some of the finest downhill or cross-country trails in winter. The resorts here are world famous for their accommodations, service, and especially their cuisine and après-ski fun. South of Montréal, in the Eastern Townships, there are picturesque towns, fine inns, an imposing monastery overlooking a majestic lake, and pleasant countryside.
