Ottawa, Canada’s national capital, spreads out along the south bank of the historic Ottawa River. The majestic neo-Gothic buildings of Parliament seem more European than North American. Their towers and spires dominate the city and give it a romantic feel. The city is part of a capital region that also includes the city of Gatineau (formerly Hull), Québec, across the Ottawa River, and a number of surrounding towns in both Ontario and Québec. Ottawa has become one of Canada’s centers for high-technology research and development, a fast-growing one at that, earning it the nickname Silicon Valley North. Many high-tech laboratories and companies are situated within the metropolitan area, with new enterprises sprouting up like tulips in spring. This eTrail is a chapter excerpted from the book "Insiders' Guide to Eastern Canada." It is packed with information on each destination including history, getting there & around, major neighborhoods & regions, and what to do & where to stay when you get there. currently offers topo maps from the entire United States. We plan to expand our topomap database in the future, however this map is not available at this time. Thank you for your understanding.
