Vancouver, the largest city in western Canada, with more than 1.8 million residents, is surrounded by inlets of the Pacific Ocean on three sides. To the north rise the majestic Coast Mountains; the fertile farmlands of the Fraser Valley nestle in the east. Along with spectacular natural beauty, this cosmopolitan city offers temperate climate (the mildest in Canada) and a friendly, ethnically diverse populace. The teenagers traveling with me on a recent trip—my daughter Alissa and her friend Molly, liked Vancouver’s combination of sophistication, scenic beauty, and funkiness. We also liked the prices. With the U.S. dollar buying about 35 to 40 percent more than the Canadian dollar, we could splurge on such trip extras as nice dinners. Canada is a great destination for cost-conscious families, and Vancouver is so charming that even fussy teens will enjoy themselves. This eTrail is one complete vacation written with families in mind. It’s loaded with exciting things to do, family-friendly places to lodge and dine, recommended side trips, local sources of information, and detailed travel directions. currently offers topo maps from the entire United States. We plan to expand our topomap database in the future, however this map is not available at this time. Thank you for your understanding.
