This ride will steer you through the unofficial, and lesser known Washington D.C. You'll pedal past the mansions of Kalorama, which sit beside international embassies. You'll tour the quaint village architecture of historic Georgetown and sit under the shade trees of some of Washington's dozens of neighborhood parks. Meridian Hill Park, tucked away in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood, is a city treasure with a 70-foot cascading fountain surrounded by majestic stone steps. Terrain: though short, this ride can be very challenging. Some sections involve long, steep climbs while other areas include urban traffic. Heavily trafficked areas should be ridden with caution and can be unnerving for those unaccustomed to urban cycling. When appropriate, the ride includes sidewalk detours. The ride also includes places to rest before and after the steepest hills.
