This route from Newark, Delaware to Chesapeake City, Maryland, has long been a popular "breakfast" ride with the White Clay Bicycle Club (WCBC), headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware. The destination: Jack and Helen's Restaurant (410-885-5477), a down-home diner that "serves really good, inexpensive breakfasts, sandwiches, and platters". The ride starts at Casho Mill Barksdale Park near the Newark campus of the Univ. of Delaware in New Castle County. Terrain: flat to gently rolling. Recent housing and commercial development have created heavy traffic along portions of this ride; however, wide shoulders are provided on the main roads.
