Scattered throughout Nova Scotia is a considerable network of hydro dams, each generating small amounts of power. Many of these dams are not too far from a paved road, and the access roads for the Nova Scotia Power Corporation make pleasant, and fairly easy walking, hikes for a Sunday morning or afternoon. In Hants County, far up the Avon River, past the fertile fields of Windsor Forks and Upper Falmouth, but abutting Highway 14, is the network of the Eastern Valley Hydro System Avon #2 Hydro Plant. This is the kind of walk perfect for a relaxed afternoon out of doors. The path is wide and even, the hills are not too steep, although there is some climb. Falls Lake is quite attractive, as is the small diversion channel rerouting the Avon River into the penstock. The view of Moses Mountain, Froth Hole Hill, and the Transformer Station from the power lines on the Back Road is quite impressive, as is the view of the cliffs along the eastern bank of the Avon viewed from the Back Road above #2 Power House. currently offers topo maps from the entire United States. We plan to expand our topomap database in the future, however this map is not available at this time. Thank you for your understanding.
