Conesus Lake is a very popular and heavily used lake that supports a cottage community. There is a lot of activity on the lake and immediate waterfront year-round. The Conesus Inlet Fish and Wildlife Management Area is a marsh at the south end of the lake that covers over 1,168 acres. DEC, which subsequently initiated wildlife programs to conserve and protect this vital wetland resource, purchased the land in the late 1960s. In 1979 an additional 83 acres were added to provide boat access to the lake, and preserve critical pike spawning habitat. Birds Likely Seen: Variety of ducks, variety of geese, numerous shore birds, herons, hawks, goldfinches, bluebirds, variety of warblers, woodpeckers, nuthatches, chickadees, wrens, titmice, blackbirds, sparrows and thrushes.
