The northern section of Oak Orchard Creek which runs from the Waterport Hydropower dam to Lake Ontario provides the best birding opportunity on this creek. In the fall and spring, anglers fish near the hydro dam (currently Orion Power Company) for steelhead and salmon. Or, they head out into Lake Ontario and fish with downriggers. In this section of Oak Orchard Creek you’ll find plenty of restaurants, stores selling boating and fishing supplies, groceries, and fishing licenses. Birds Likely Seen: Ducks, geese, shorebirds, herons, hawks, finches, warblers, woodpeckers and thrushes.
