This loop is part of the quality trail system at Leon Sinks Geological Area. Here you can explore the Gopher Hole and Fisher Sink. The Gopher Hole is a watery cave opening cut into a hill. Fisher Creek goes underground at Fisher Sink before emerging on the far side of a natural bridge. The balance of the hike winds through forest and wooded gum swamps. This hike shares a trailhead with the Sinkhole Trail at Leon Sinks. The parking area offers picnic facilities, restrooms, water fountains, and interpretive information. Volunteer hosts oversee the area. The well-marked and maintained trail system, complete with ample interpretive signage, is the pride of the Apalachicola National Forest. At first you share treadway with the Sinkhole Trail, passing the interesting Gopher Holeā€”just one element of the Woodville Karst Plain, a complicated above- and-below-ground plumbing system with sinkholes, caves, and natural bridges.
