The 34-mile drive traverses a beautiful forested section of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains between the pastoral Mora River Valley and the ski resort of Angel Fire. The drive not only passes through the lush grassy valleys and forested slopes of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, it also passes through time. It starts in Mora, a small Hispanic town settled in about 1816, and ends in Angel Fire, a modern resort town with skiing, golf, and other outdoor activities. Unlike most of the drives in New Mexico, this one passes largely through private land. Please respect the rights of property owners. Special attractions: Coyote Creek State Park, Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Angel Fire ski area and resort, camping, fishing, and fall color. This eTrail is a complete description of a scenic drive with a route map and information on the best travel seasons, interesting sites, recreation opportunities, camping locations, and much more.
