A 9-mile drive through North Cheyenne Cañon Park and along Gold Camp Road in the mountains above Colorado Springs. The 9-mile-long North Cheyenne Cañon–Lower Gold Camp Roads scenic drive ascends a steep, rocky canyon carved into the Front Range southwest of Colorado Springs and then edges above the canyon back to the city and US 24. This short but lovely drive offers lofty viewpoints, a couple of waterfalls, solitude on the edge of one of Colorado’s largest cities, and superb hiking trails. The canyon road segment is a paved, two-lane road. The Gold Camp Road segment is a narrow, gravel road. Numerous pullouts allow for safe passage around oncoming vehicles and for scenic views. Recreational vehicles or those towing a trailer should not be used for the drive.
