This easy and relaxing 122-kilometer (73-mile) drive travels southbound through “sun and fun” country in BC’s arid Southern Interior and features some of the best desert-like scenery in the province. Far from being in the wilderness, this drive passes through the largest communities in the Okanagan and has plenty of opportunities to enjoy the California-like ambiance and numerous recreational activities in the area. Special attractions: As the whole region is geared to tourism, there are numerous opportunities for fun and excitement including water-skiing, power boating, sunbathing, swimming, and snow skiing near Kelowna or Penticton. Other attractions include the scenery alongside Okanagan Lake, the Bighorn Sheep herd at Vaseux Lake, and the fruit orchards and wineries found along the whole route. This eTrail is a complete description of a scenic drive with a route map and information on the best travel seasons, interesting sites, recreation opportunities, camping locations, and much more.
