An 82-mile route that climbs from valley bottoms to high mountains. About half is paved. The Flat Tops Trail Scenic Byway traverses Ripple Creek and Dunckley passes in the Rocky Mountains of northwest Colorado. About half of the 82-mile route is paved. The gravel portion is suitable for passenger cars, but don’t get off on side roads if it’s wet. Traffic is usually very light. Special attractions: Mountain vistas, camping, fishing, wildlife viewing, Flat Tops Wilderness, cross-country skiing.
