The Turnagain Arm Trail is a historic trail dating back to 1910, when it was originally used to carry supplies during the construction of the railroad. The trail runs parallel to and above the Seward Highway, the railroad, and the waters of Turnagain Arm. Throughout the trail you’ll be able to observe the striking elements of the hike, including stands of birch, aspen, poplar, and spruce trees, highlighted by coastal vegetation, wildflowers, and numerous stream crossings. Wildlife is also abundant, ranging from spruce grouse and bears to moose and Dall sheep.
