Spawned as the outlet of Raquette Lake, the Upper Raquette River feeds and drains Forked and Long Lakes, Simon and Raquette Ponds, and Piercefield Flow, and comes to rest in Carry Falls Reservoir. Set in deep woods, the crooked, 1,248-acre Forked Lake averages 10 feet and has one deep spot dropping to 40 feet. Really just a long, wide hole in the Raquette River, the 4,077-acre Long Lake stretches for 16 miles, averages 13 feet deep, and has a maximum depth of 50 feet. Key species: Brown trout, walleye, northern pike, largemouth bass, yellow perch, pumpkinseed, brown bullhead, and smallmouth bass.
