This spring-fed lake covers 128 acres, averages 41 feet deep, and drops to a maximum depth of 60 feet. Its shoreline is heavily developed in private residences, and there’s a state park and campground on the northwest shore. The state stocks roughly 1,700 rainbow trout and 600 brown trout averaging 9 inches annually. Growth is decent—most end up ranging between 12 and 16 inches. From fall through spring, they can be taken near shore on live bait. Come summer, they suspend in deep water by day and can be taken on minnows fished below slip bobbers and lures trolled deep. On some summer evenings, they will rise to feed on hatching insects. Smallmouth bass in the 12- to 15-inch range areplentiful. They hang out along deep shelves and respond to diving crankbaits and 3-inch grubs fished on drop-shot rigs. Largemouth bass go anywhere from 12 to 20 inches and take buzzbaits and surface baits cast around their haunts, primarily the weed beds on the south end.
