Operated by the Georgia Wildlife Resources Division, the Evans County Public Fishing Area offers good fishing for a variety of species. The site contains three small lakes open to public fishing. Evans County Public Fishing Area consists of three small lakes intensively managed for public fishing. The lakes are 8, 30, and 84 acres in size. All three lakes offer good fishing, but most anglers prefer to fish the largest lake. Besides fishing, families will find restrooms, picnic facilities, nature walks, and wildlife-viewing opportunities. Some facilities are accessible to those with disabilities. On some days, especially during the week, yours may be the only boat on the water, and only a handful of anglers may be working the shoreline. On weekends, use is a little heavier, but there is still plenty of room for everybody. The big lake offers a little bit of everything, including lilypads, cattail-lined shorelines, fallen and standing timber, flats, drop-offs, and channels. Although just a small boat is needed to fish the lake, a depth finder should be considered essential equipment to find offshore cover and structure.
