Dodge County Public Fishing Area, operated by the Georgia Wildlife Resources Division, is on a 444-acre tract of gently rolling land nestled in Georgia’s middle coastal plain. The centerpiece of the area is 104-acre Steve Bell Lake. Dodge County Public Fishing Area opened in 1992. The gently rolling tract of land contains a variety of habitats including mixed pine and hardwood stands, wiregrass/longleaf pine, planted pines, and hardwood bottoms. Steve Bell Lake has several coves and points, a small island, and some standing timber and submerged structure. The lake averages 10 feet deep, although depths of 28 feet are present at the dam. The area is intensively managed to produce quality angling for both boat and shore anglers. Facilities for anglers include paved boat ramps, plenty of parking, restrooms, and a universally accessible fishing pier. Other facilities include picnic tables, an archery range, and a self-guided nature trail. Key species: largemouth bass, bluegill, redear sunfish, channel catfish.
