Overview: Marben Public Fishing Area is part of the Georgia Wildlife Resources Division’s Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center. Visitors to the center can enjoy a variety of outdoor recreation and education opportunities. The Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center, named for the noted outdoor writer and former director of the Georgia Game and Fish Commission (now known as the Wildlife Resources Division), includes the Clybel Wildlife Management Area, the Preaching Rock Wildlife Education Center, and the Marben Public Fishing Area. The Center contains 6,400 acres of rolling Piedmont hills. There are 22 ponds and lakes totaling about 300 acres. Some lakes have developed facilities, some are walk-in, some are for group fishing by reservation, and some ponds are managed to provide the best fishing for certain species. Key species: largemouth bass, bluegill, redear sunfish, channel catfish.
