Lake Tobesofkee, a 1,750-acre lake near Macon owned and operated by Bibb County, is the perfect place to take the whole family. With fishing, swimming, picnicking, boating, camping, and even a water park, everyone can find something they like to do. Lake Tobesofkee is a watershed impoundment on Tobesofkee Creek. Creek surveys have shown that on a per-acre basis, Tobesofkee is one of the hardest-fished lakes in Georgia. The lake is becoming heavily developed, especially on the lower end, and boat traffic is heavy during the summer months. The heavy pleasure-boat traffic makes Tobesofkee a better fall and winter lake for the angler. Fish can be caught year-round, but most anglers prefer to seek out less-crowded waters during the spring and summer months. During this time, limit your fishing to very early or late in the day, or better yet, at night. Tobesofkee is not just for the boating angler. Key species: hybrid striped bass, largemouth bass, crappie, channel catfish.
