With 15,330 acres of water and excellent access, Georgia Power’s Lake Sinclair is a favorite with Georgia anglers. Lake Sinclair is a 15,330-acre hydropower impoundment at Furman Shoals on the Oconee River. Lake Sinclair is known for consistency and numbers rather then huge fish. Although the lake record largemouth bass weighed more than 13 pounds, trophies are rare on Sinclair. You can expect lots of action from 1- to 2-pound bass. Crappie are also popular with Sinclair anglers, and provide better than average fishing with lots of harvestable-size fish available. Lake Sinclair’s shoreline is heavily developed with private homes, especially on the lower portions of the lake. Public access is excellent, however, with many public boat ramps and private marinas. Key species: largemouth bass, crappie.
